Nilachal: best time to visit and today's weather
hill station · Bandarban Sadar, Bandarban
Updated: Monday, 7 September 2026
Nilachal is the hilltop viewpoint at Tigerpara, about 5 km from Bandarban town on the Keranihat road, at roughly 300 m (about 1,000 ft). The district administration built terraces, a small resort and viewing decks that look over the town, the Sangu valley and, on clear days, the Chimbuk range. It is the easiest cloud-touching spot in Bandarban: from monsoon into early winter the clouds drift through the terraces at eye level. Coordinates are OpenStreetMap's node for the Nilachal tourist spot itself.
Best time to visit
October, November, December, January, February
October-November is the sweet spot: the rains have stopped but enough moisture remains for morning clouds to roll through the terraces; December-February is dry and clear for long views to the Chimbuk range, with cool evenings for the sunset.
Weather caution
Monsoon (June-September) is when the clouds are thickest but also when the Bandarban hills see landslides and the access road can be cut after heavy rain; in thick monsoon cloud the view is often a white-out. December-January mornings can stay fogged in until mid-morning, and April-May is hot and hazy.
