Chimbuk is a hilltop viewpoint on the Bandarban-Thanchi road, 26 km from Bandarban town and long nicknamed the 'Darjeeling of Bangladesh'. From the summit platform you get a 180-degree sweep of rolling ridges and the winding Sangu, and on autumn mornings a sea of clouds often drifts below. Mro villages and fruit stalls line the road, with Nilgiri another 20 km on.

Post-monsoon and winter air is clear enough to see distant ridges; Oct-Dec dawns give the best chance of a cloud sea, and the hill road is dry.
Weather caution
Monsoon (Jun-Sep) landslides and road closures on the Thanchi road are routine, and low cloud can hide the view completely; dense Dec-Jan morning fog delays early departures.

Getting there from Dhaka
Overnight bus from Dhaka to Bandarban (7-8 h), then a chander gari jeep, CNG or Thanchi-bound bus 1-1.5 h up the Thanchi road. No vehicles run on the Chimbuk-Thanchi stretch after 4 pm, so plan a daytime return.
