Himchari: best time to visit and today's weather
waterfall · Ramu, Cox's Bazar
Updated: Monday, 7 September 2026
Himchari is a hill-and-waterfall stop 12 km south of Cox's Bazar town on Marine Drive, where the forested hills of Himchari National Park come right down to the beach; a stair-climb to the hilltop gives a long view over the Bay of Bengal. The waterfall is the main draw but runs properly only in and just after the monsoon and is often dry the rest of the year. The coordinate is the waterfall itself (OpenStreetMap); the 1,729 ha national park (declared 1980) straddles Cox's Bazar Sadar and Ramu upazilas.
Best time to visit
July, August, September, October
The waterfall has water only when the hills are soaked: July to September, tapering into October. For the hilltop view and the beach the dry November–February window is better, but expect the fall to be a trickle then.
Weather caution
Monsoon rain makes the hill stairs slippery and the Cox's Bazar hills are prone to landslides in heavy rain; the sea below is rough June–September, so this is a hill-and-waterfall visit, not a swim. April–May and October–November are cyclone season.
