Cox's Bazar Sea Beach: best time to visit and today's weather
beach · Cox's Bazar Sadar, Cox's Bazar
Updated: Monday, 7 September 2026
The 120 km Cox's Bazar beach is the world's longest unbroken natural sandy beach, and Laboni Point (the old 'sea beach') with Sugandha Point just south of it is where most visitors first touch the water: hotels, the Burmese market and the beach horses are all within a short walk. The coordinate is the Laboni Point locality node in OpenStreetMap, about 1.8 km north-west of Wikipedia's general beach coordinate (21.4143, 91.9832); Sugandha lies roughly 500 m further south along the sand. About 3 million tourists come each year (BBS 2021).
Best time to visit
November, December, January, February
November to February is the dry season: January sees only about 6 mm of rain against 823 mm in June, the sea is calm enough to swim, and the sky stays clear for sunsets.
Weather caution
The June–September monsoon brings rough seas and strong rip currents; stay out of the water when red flags are up. April–May and October–November are cyclone season on this coast (Cyclone Mocha forced mass evacuations in May 2023). Quicksand patches appear at ebb tide.
