Guliakhali (also called Muradpur beach) is a tidal grassland on the Bay of Bengal about 5 km west of Sitakunda bazar: instead of sand there is a carpet of green grass cut by narrow channels that fill at high tide, backed by keora mangroves. Chandranath Hill, 6–7 km to the east, is the highest point of the Sitakunda range (just over 300 m) and carries the 11th-century Chandranath Shiva temple, a Shakti Peetha that draws the district's largest fair at Shiva Chaturdashi in February–March. Dry, cool weather: the sea is calm, the tidal meadow is walkable, and the hill climb is comfortable; the Shiva Chaturdashi mela falls in February–March.

Rough sea and flooded channels in the monsoon (Jun–Sep); cyclone season Apr–May and Oct–Nov on this coast; the hill stairs turn slippery in rain and the beach has no lifeguards, so check the tide table before walking out onto the meadow.

Getting there from Dhaka
Take an overnight Chattogram-bound bus from Dhaka (Sayedabad/Kolabagan; Hanif, Shyamoli etc., about 5–6 hours) and ask to be dropped at Sitakunda, or the Chittagong Mail train to Sitakunda station; from Sitakunda bazar a CNG auto reaches the Guliakhali embankment in 15–25 minutes, and the Chandranath trailhead is 3–4 km east of the bazar.
