Saint Martin's (Narikel Jinjira, 'coconut island') is Bangladesh's only coral island: about 3 km² and 9 km long, 9 km south of the Teknaf coast and 120 km from Cox's Bazar town, with Chhera Dwip cut off at its southern tip at high tide. Since the 2024–25 season the government has restricted tourism to protect the reef: the island is open only November–January, ships sail solely from Cox's Bazar's Nuniarchhara BIWTA ghat, and a travel pass is required. These are the only months the island is open, and also the calmest: the north-east monsoon settles the Bay so the 5-hour crossing is bearable and the water is clear. Overnight stays are allowed only in December and January; November is day-trip only.

Getting there from Dhaka
From Dhaka reach Cox's Bazar (flight about 1 h 15 min, Cox's Bazar Express train about 8 h, or overnight bus 9–12 h), then board an authorised ship at Nuniarchhara BIWTA ghat between 7 and 10 am for the 5–5.5 hour voyage; return sailings leave the island 3–6 pm. The Teknaf and Inani routes are closed and a travel pass from travelpass.gov.bd is mandatory.
