Madhupur National Park: best time to visit and today's weather
forest · Muktagacha, Mymensingh
Updated: Monday, 7 September 2026
Madhupur National Park covers 8,436 hectares of the Madhupur Tract, the red-soil upland between Tangail and Mymensingh about 125 km north of Dhaka, and is one of the best surviving sal forests in Bangladesh; it was set up in 1962 and formally declared in 1982. Garo (Mandi) and Koch villages sit inside and around the forest, pineapple gardens line the road in from Madhupur, and the Dokhola range has a forest rest house, an observation tower and a deer breeding centre. The coordinate is the Bangla-Wikipedia/Wikidata point inside the forest (24.6983, 90.1194); the English infobox gives only a rounded 24.75, 90.083.
Best time to visit
November, December, January, February
Dry, cool season: forest tracks are firm and leech-free, and winter mornings under the sal canopy are the most pleasant time to walk.
Weather caution
Monsoon (Jun–Sep) turns the red-soil tracks to mud and brings out leeches; Apr–May is very hot under the canopy; dense fog on the Tangail road in Dec–Jan can slow early-morning buses.
