Lalbagh Fort is an unfinished 17th-century Mughal fort in Old Dhaka, begun in 1678 by Prince Muhammad Azam, son of Aurangzeb, and abandoned by Shaista Khan after his daughter Pari Bibi died in 1684. Three buildings survive inside the walls: Pari Bibi's tomb, the Diwan-i-Aam with its hammam, and a three-domed mosque, set in a lawn with Mughal-style water channels. It is Dhaka's most-visited monument and a quick escape from the Old Town's lanes.

November, December, January, February
November–February gives dry, cool afternoons for the open lawns and ramparts; the fort is mostly outdoors, so this is the season to linger rather than shelter.
Weather caution
The June–September monsoon waterlogs Old Dhaka's streets and soaks the fort's lawns; April–May is stifling with nor'wester (kalbaishakhi) storms in the afternoon. In summer go early or after 3 pm.

Getting there from Dhaka
Inside Old Dhaka's Lalbagh area: a rickshaw from Azimpur or New Market, or a CNG/ride-share from anywhere in the city (30–60 minutes in traffic). Closed Sunday; Monday opens only from 1:30–2:30 pm.
