Ahsan Manzil, the Pink Palace, is the former residence of the Nawabs of Dhaka on the north bank of the Buriganga at Kumartuli, Islampur. Built 1859–1872 for Khwaja Abdul Ghani in Indo-Saracenic style, its domed pink facade and grand staircase now house a Bangladesh National Museum branch on the Nawab family and the city's history. It is a five-minute rickshaw ride from Sadarghat launch terminal, so most visitors pair it with a Buriganga boat ride.

November–February is dry and cool, the Buriganga is calm for a boat ride and the riverside terrace is pleasant; the museum itself is indoors and works year-round, but the walk through Islampur's lanes is only comfortable in this season.
Weather caution
The June–September monsoon waterlogs the Islampur–Sadarghat lanes and leaves the Buriganga swollen and rough for small boats; April–May afternoon nor'wester (kalbaishakhi) storms can capsize dinghies, so skip the river ride when the sky turns dark.

Getting there from Dhaka
Islampur Road on the Buriganga in Old Dhaka: rickshaw from Sadarghat launch terminal (5–10 minutes) or a CNG/ride-share from the city (30–60 minutes in traffic). Closed Thursday; Friday opens only in the afternoon.
