Ramsagar is a vast 18th-century reservoir, 1,079 m long and about 190 m wide, dug by Raja Ramnath of Dinajpur in the village of Tajpur about 8 km south of Dinajpur town. The lake and its wooded embankments were declared a national park in 2001 and draw kingfishers, herons and winter birds, with a small deer enclosure and picnic grounds along the banks. It is the standard half-day stop on a Dinajpur trip alongside Kantajew Temple and the Rajbari.
Best time to visit
November, December, January, February
November–February is dry and cool in Dinajpur: the mid-day sun is mild enough to walk the whole embankment, the lakeside paths are firm, and winter birds are on the water.
Weather caution
Dinajpur gets dense fog in December–January that delays trains and makes early-morning road travel risky, so start after 9 am. March–May brings severe heat and nor'wester (kalbaishakhi) storms; the June–September monsoon turns the lakeside paths to mud.

Getting there from Dhaka
Overnight train from Kamalapur (Ekota, Drutojan or Panchagarh Express, 8–9 hours to Dinajpur) or a night coach from Gabtoli/Kallyanpur (about 10 hours); flights to Saidpur take an hour plus 1.5–2 hours by road. From Dinajpur town an auto-rickshaw or nosimon covers the 8 km south in 15–20 minutes.
