Karamjal is the Forest Department's eco-tourism and wildlife breeding centre on the bank of the Pashur River, about 8 km downstream of Mongla, and the easiest way into the Bangladesh Sundarbans (a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997). A wooden boardwalk through the mangroves, a watchtower, and captive crocodile, deer and turtle breeding pens make it a half-day trip with no advance permit. Note: the coordinate comes from a travel-site map pin rather than an official gazetteer (Nominatim, GeoNames and Wikidata have no entry), so treat it as a best estimate consistent with the '8 km from Mongla on the Pashur' descriptions.

November, December, January, February
November to February is dry and cool with calm rivers; this is also the Forest Department's tourist season, and at low tide deer and crocodiles are easier to spot along the muddy banks.
Weather caution
This coast sits in the cyclone belt: April-May and October-November are cyclone season (Sidr, Aila, Amphan and Remal all struck the Mongla side). Check the BMD signal for Mongla port before getting into a boat. June-September monsoon brings rough rivers, heavy rain, slippery boardwalks and high tides.

Getting there from Dhaka
Direct bus from Dhaka (Gabtali or Sayedabad) to Mongla via the Padma Bridge, roughly 4-5 hours; or the Jahanabad Express train to Khulna (about 4 hours) then an hour by road to Mongla. From Mongla ferry ghat hire an engine boat (Tk 1,000-1,500 for a day), 30-60 minutes to Karamjal.
