Puthia Temple Complex: best time to visit and today's weather
heritage site · Puthia, Rajshahi
Updated: Monday, 7 September 2026
Puthia, 23 km east of Rajshahi city, holds the densest cluster of historic Hindu temples in Bangladesh: thirteen temples and the Puthia Rajbari palace built by the Puthia zamindar family, all within a short walk of each other. The Pancha Ratna Govinda Temple is covered in terracotta panels of the epics, the 1823 Bhubaneshwar (Boro) Shiva Temple is the largest Shiva temple in the country, and the Rath Mandir and Dol Mancha complete the set. Note that the main Wikipedia infobox coordinate sits about 3 km east of the temples; the coordinate given here follows OpenStreetMap and the individual temple articles.
Best time to visit
November, December, January, February
November to February is dry and cool in Rajshahi (January lows of 7-16 C), ideal for a day spent walking between open-air temples and reading terracotta panels in soft winter light; from March the heat builds fast, with April-June afternoons at 32-36 C or more.
Weather caution
Rajshahi is the hottest and driest part of the country: April-June brings heatwaves past 40 C and kalbaishakhi squalls, and there is little shade in the temple compound. Dense fog in December-January delays morning trains and buses on the Dhaka-Rajshahi route.
