Bagha Mosque: best time to visit and today's weather
heritage site · Bagha, Rajshahi
Updated: Monday, 7 September 2026
Bagha Mosque is a ten-domed Sultanate-era mosque built in 1523-24 by Sultan Nasiruddin Nasrat Shah, about 40 km southeast of Rajshahi city. Its brick walls are covered inside and out with terracotta floral and Persian motifs, making it one of the finest surviving terracotta mosques of Bengal. The complex includes a large Shahi Dighi (tank), the mazar of Hazrat Shah Daula, and an underground royal bathhouse uncovered in 1997.
Best time to visit
November, December, January, February
Rajshahi's dry, cool winter (January lows of 7-16 C, almost no rain) is the only comfortable time to spend hours walking around an open brick-and-terracotta monument; the hot season starts in early March and April-June afternoons run 32-36 C or higher.
Weather caution
Rajshahi is the hottest, driest corner of Bangladesh: avoid April-June afternoons (heatwaves past 40 C are common) and expect kalbaishakhi squalls in April-May. In December-January dense morning fog slows trains and highway buses, so allow extra time for early departures.
